The qualification for membership shall be support of the aims of IWHA and timely payment of the requisite level of membership fees.

- to encourage, promote, and foster historical understanding of, and research in, the relationship between water and humankind,
- to foster a stronger relationship between those engaged in water history and water administrators, engineers, scientists, planners and other practitioners,
- to foster public awareness of the role of water in world history and to promote public participation in resolving water resource issues,
- to take other actions deemed by the Association to be supportive of its purposes.

Members shall receive all digital IWHA publications, have voting rights, conduct the business of IWHA, serve on committees and be eligible for elected or appointed office.

Membership fees shall be established by the Executive Council. Failure to pay fees within sixty days of notification shall constitute forfeiture of membership, but membership will be renewed whenever fees are paid.

The membership year of IWHA runs from 1 January through 31 December. Membership fee for 2004 will be 20 USD + transaction fee. You wil receive an e-mail on how to pay the membership fee.
